Earning your higher level certifications, practices & hands on are a must.
And practicing with virtual lab is more/really efficient rather than purchasing hardware.
GNS 3 [Graphical Network Simulator] is one of the best virtual lab software.

All you need is just this software and the Cisco IOS Image.
The memory of the virtual Cisco engine is adjustable to it’s maximum.
Some Issues (and tips/tricks) at the first time you worked with…
1. Console not respond immediately after start.
This text should appear first “Connected to Dynamips VM “MPLSCORE” (ID 4, type c3600) - Console port”
This sample for Cisco 3640 IOS Image.
Tips :
- Wait for a while after the Router Started [it needs to boot the IOS]
- If still the console not working, try to check your IOS Image location
2. Error when connecting between Routers with Serial, Ethernet, FastEthernet etc
Tips/Tricks :
- Don’t go to console at the first time after starting the router
- Do right click on your router and configure / add / remove your interfaces
- If that done, try to connect your routers each other as you need.
- if that done, try to start all device.
- Go for console now !.
3. Cannot Save the start-up config & Once you opened a saved *.net on file tab it always goes to default configuration
and the config-register is 0×2142.
Tips/Tricks
- After all configuration you have considered to be saved done,
stop all device by using “Stop Every Devices” red button .
- Click file and go to new project.
- Type your *.net file name [example: lab.net] and check on save nvram also export configuration…
- Close GNS 3 and try to open your *.net file.
- Your configuration is now stay as before

Gigabit LAN should give you a faster file transfer speed and less of time need.
The condition, all work station with Gig NIC connected to a Gigabit Switch.
Last night thing what we expected not happening.
Default NIC configuration in TCP/IP Properties Link Mode for both PCs
Link Mode & Speed : Auto
Result : File transfer Speed up to 200 Mbps
What we have done :
1./
Set NIC configuration in TCP/IP Properties Link Mode for both PCs
Before : Auto
After : AutoNegotiate 1000
Result : Speed raised up to 300 Mbps
2./
Enforce Gigabit Switch to FullDuplex/1000TX
Result : Nothing !
still limited up to 300 Mbps.
Note : Some NICs don’t have a choice to be set to 1000TX & Full Duplex.
So, you have to be carefull with Gigabit switch.
Set Gigabit Switch Port to Auto is the best thing to deal with, among connected multi vendors NIC - Gig computers/servers.
File transferring using Microsoft Network doesn’t satisfy us then
Idea, use an FTP scheme.
What we have done :
- NIC enforce to AutoNegotiate 1000
- Gigabit Switch Port to Auto
- Install Filezilla Server & Client [depens on with PC/Servers needed to be download].

Note : Why Download ?
We didn’t see Upload speed from time to time more than 100 Mbps.
- Configure your Filezilla server for Server where file needed to be downloaded.
- Configure your Filezilla client for Server where you need to save the file.

Result ?
- Download Speed up to 850 Mbps.
- Transfering file is realy fast.
Another setting ?
- Adjusting TCP Windows Size in Registry gives us nothing !.
- Adjusting TCP Option so does nothing.
Note :
- File transferring also depends on your Server/PC Resources such Processor & Memory
- Low Resources of course give you low speed.
- Other thing, speed of download will not Always be continuously stable.
- It swings depends on your file numbers, Server/PC resources, HDD Backplane and ect.
Try that !

Since Sisca Octavia is now in Bologna & we are trying to save traditional SLI rate (international call cost) as well.
We have tested several voice over internet application last week.
And the best voice gained by using Skype.
With HSDPA/3G connection from my internet mobile provider.
I can have a smooth & clear voice even without a significant delay from Jakarta to Bologna, Italy.
Looking at D.U Meter, it plots 192 kbps of international usage for this conversation.
Here the snapshot.

K-Lite Codec as one of most compatible video player that support many codecs compared to others media player.

First installation by default Video Renderer is set to Old Renderer which not allow you to load the subtitle correctly.
Here how to overcom this :
Change Playback output of Direct Show Video in View > Option tab setting.

Googling everywhere with no luck, eventually best site ever that I found today for setting up a complete system for establishing a Tunnel Broker/Server for IPv6 end user is : http://www.join.uni-muenster.de.
The client connected using Open VPN technology and trust me, it’s quite complete information & documentation for a good start to install Tunnel Server.
- here captured from that site -
This document describes the process of setting up an OpenVPN based IPv6 tunnel broker to enable ISP-independent IPv6 connectivity that is authenticated, secure, stable, and IPv4 source-address independent. It provides an insight into necessary configurations, gives an overview over administrative tasks and possible caveats.

Fig.: Schema of a typical tunnel brokerThere are many different definitions of the term “tunnel broker”. To clarify what this term means in the context of this document, it is necessary to summarise the tasks that an OpenVPN-based tunnel broker should fulfil:
- provide IPv6 connectivity to a subscribed client
- manage a set of X.509 certificates and keys and a certification authority (CA)
- check authorisation of a client
- assign a fixed IPv6 prefix to each client (either /64 or /128 for a single address)
- adjust routing according to prefix-/address-assignment
- on subscription of a new client, create client configuration for server and as archive file for client
- handle subscription information
To handle all of the above tasks, the tunnel broker needs to consist at least of the following components:
- OpenVPN server(s)
- OpenSSL certification authority (CA)
- client database
- dedicated router for clients (is identical to OpenVPN server)
- IPv6 infrastructure to route IPv6 traffic to and from clients
- please follow above link to get the detail from Germany -

I feel much better using this Firefox 3.0.1.
More features & sparkle looks
Other thing, this new Firefox version solved my YouTube Streaming Problem.

The problem was : YouTube player stops the streaming after few seconds after started. Clicking the player gives another seconds of play… till it stops again & again..
Others on web said not only Tube files stop playing after few seconds, there were :
- Flash Animation
- Metacafe Files
- Daily Motion
I’m using Windows XP where this firefox running on.
And so were they.
My last Firefox version : 2.0.0.12 even upgraded to 2.0.0.14 / 15/16 didn’t seem to give me any luck.
So ? Upgrade Your Firefox
Here…

Schenario :
- Xlite [SIP] users
would like to call H323 Avaya stations through
PBX IP.
- Xlite users registered to SIP Server
- Avaya PBX IP already set connected to H323&SIP Server/Gateway through IP Trunk
- SIP/H323 Server already configured the Dial Plan.
Problem Symptons :
- Xlite users [SIP] cannot make a Call to any of Avaya Stations [H323] - UnAvailable
- SIP/H323 Server has been redirecting the request to Avaya PBX IP at UDP 1720.
- Avaya PBX never handle the request of UDP 1720 came in.
Action :
- Clear ARP Cache on the IP Gateway of both Avaya PBX IP, The Router, The SIP/H323 Server
- Use EyeBeam ! (since Xlite Coding type (G723) is different/not supported with Avaya Station (G729) and cannot be changed).
Should be smooth call now
Have a nice IP Call…

Lately I’m sick with Unwated Toolbar without any notification on my Firefox / IE.
Winamp, Install at their own for this unwanted toolbar, yes I know it’s free, anyway please alert previously during installation.
My perspective, it’s useless.

Why ?
Since Firefox & IE alredy equipped with similar button on the bar.
Why should I need to have both ?
Why should it’s reduce my screen page ?
For I.E it’s not realy hard to remove.
Go to Internet Option & Add Ons.
Disable Winamp Unwanted Toolbar.

Again using Wireshark 1.0.0, trying to detect what really the port is being used by You Tube & IndoTube6 for streaming purpose.
Here the captured ports.
For IndoTube6 which running over dual stack IPv4 & IPv6,
On the IPv6 part the ports is TCP : start with 14xx (Source) to HTTP (80) destination on the server.

For You Tube which running only over IPv4,
The source ports are TCP : over than port 3400 to HTTP (80) destination on the server.
