[Mobile] Sending SMS from PC with Sony Ericsson W200 - Error

Posted by admin on 29th July 2010

Sending / Receibing SMS on PC may be is a good choice if you have a frequent sms activity.
Working with Sony Ericsson W200 and refer to Website & Best Simple Guide : ” Developers Home
Here What I have done :

    1. Install Sony Ericsson W200 Driver
    2. Inspecting which COM Port it’s connected.
    3. Use that port to communicate.
    4. Use Hyper Terminal to check : [Communication between PC & SE W200 is fine].

    AT
    OK
    AT+CMGF=1
    OK
    AT+CMGW=”+628176388704″
    > A simple demo of SMS text messaging.
    +CMGW: 1

    OK
    AT+CMSS=1
    +CMSS: 20

    OK

Here is a description of what is done in the above example:

    *      Line 1: “AT” is sent to the GSM / GPRS modem to test the connection. The GSM / GPRS modem sends back the result code “OK” (line 2), which means the connection between the HyperTerminal program and the GSM / GPRS modem works fine.
    *      Line 3: The AT command +CMGF is used to instruct the GSM / GPRS modem to operate in SMS text mode. The result code “OK” is returned (line 4), which indicates the command line “AT+CMGF=1″ has been executed successfully. If the result code “ERROR” is returned, it is likely that the GSM / GPRS modem does not support the SMS text mode. To confirm, type “AT+CMGF=?” in the HyperTerminal program. If the response is “+CMGF: (0,1)” (0=PDU mode and 1=text mode), then SMS text mode is supported. If the response is “+CMGF: (0)”, then SMS text mode is not supported.

My SE W200 Respond : [Not Support SMS Text Mode]
    =========================================
    OK

    +CPIN: READY

    OK

    +CMS ERROR: 303

    OK

    +CMS ERROR: 303

    +CMS ERROR: 303

    +CMGF: (0)

    OK
    ===================

    *      Line 5 and 6: The AT command +CMGW is used to write an SMS text message to the message storage of the GSM / GPRS modem. “+85291234567″ is the recipient mobile phone number. After typing the recipient mobile phone number, you should press the Enter button of the keyboard. The GSM / GPRS modem will then return a prompt “> ” and you can start typing the SMS text message “A simple demo of SMS text messaging.”. When finished, press Ctrl+z of the keyboard.
    *      Line 7: “+CMGW: 1″ tells us that the index assigned to the SMS text message is 1. It indicates the location of the SMS text message in the message storage.
    *      Line 9: The result code “OK” indicates the execution of the AT command +CMGW is successful.
    *      Line 10: The AT command +CMSS is used to send the SMS text message from the message storage of the GSM / GPRS modem. “1″ is the index of the SMS text message obtained from line 7.
    *      Line 11: “+CMSS: 20″ tells us that the reference number assigned to the SMS text message is 20.
    *      Line 13: The result code “OK” indicates the execution of the AT command +CMSS is successful.

[Security] Symantec End Point Uninstallation & Remote Access Problem

Posted by admin on 24th June 2010

Quoted from Gnawgnu’s Realm Blog the similar thing also happened on my laptop while trying to connect to a 3G mobile network.

Symantec End Point Uninstallation has stopped Remote Access Connection Manager and dialing to Mobile Network APN, gave me the “Connection Terminated” pop up box. Googling somewhere on Huawei website in which the 3G modem being used, they said that Remote Access Connection Manager supposed to be Started.

Looking at my windows XP services, thie Remote Access Connection Manager is stopped. Trying to start the service, it returns with error “Access Denied”.

For me I have done only deleting Key “88″ at RASMAN on regedit.

    Quoted :

Endpoint kills remote access connection manager (Error 5: Access is denied)

To add to the fun, the uninstaller for Endpoint doesn’t always get rid of all the problems that came with it. In one case, all the remote access services crapped out so VPN’s were unavailable. If you try to create a new VPN, the window options all gray out. I saw a solution on the symantec boards which recommend doing a full manual uninstall.
    https://forums.symantec.com/syment/board/message?board.id=endpointcust&thread.id=1844
    Uninstall instructions:
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2007073018014248?Open&src=ent_gold_nam
One user did comment on this blog that reinstalling Endpoint resolved issues that another admin he knew was experiencing. You may want to try that or a combination of a full uninstall/reinstall, etc.

    Anonymous said…

Even after Endpoint was successfully uninstalled, and the Microsoft KB article http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329441 was followed, there was an additional RASMAN\PPP\EAP key that needed to be deleted. You must delete 25 and 26 as in the KB, as well as the Symantec Endpoint subkey 17. Then Remote Access Connection Manager will again start.

Event Viewer Error [From Mufti Blog]

    • Remote Access Connection Manager failed to start because it could
not create buffers. Restart the computer. Access is denied. (Error,
      Source: RasMan)
    • The Remote Access Connection Manager service was successfully sent a
start control. (Information, Source: Service Control Manager)
    • The Remote Access Connection Manager service entered the stopped
state. (Information, Source: Service Control Manager)
    • The Remote Access Connection Manager service terminated with the
following error: Access is denied. (Information, Source: Service
      Control Manager)

[EVDO] Fren Signal & Link Quality Capacity in Cibinong, Jawa Barat

Posted by admin on 30th March 2009

Cibinong is a near by small industrial city of Jakarta about 25 km away from.
Is having a rapid population growth.
Some of them are working in Jakarta.

Communication is one of important thing for those who lived around outside of Jakarta.
While INDOSAT 3G, Telkomsel 3G not really serve good in Signal..
Fren [Mobile 8] answered the need of communication there.

EVDO signal is much better received compared to other.
Data Speed also can reach maximum bandwidth assigned.
I believe there’s only few of Data Users currently subscribed at this moment.
Which give much spare of Data Capacity that can be burst ed up by CIR users on a BTS.

Here the captured speed by Ervin A. Taufik a while ago in Cibinong Area.

Hopefully Operators can maintain their quality in always.

    [3G/HSDPA] INDOSAT 3G ? Scheduled to Online Now :)

Posted by admin on 29th March 2009

As the better speed news has been spread out since last years againts it’s competitors…
INDOSAT 3G is now having more & more Data Users among top priority of ‘Voice users that will occupy’ the ‘idle’ even used data channel at a transceiver station.
Used to handle and accomodate 4-5 Data Users in a BTS, is now 4 times increased rapidly.

At the begining the speed was realy good.
Lately last end of year months it was getting worse at the time of where Voice Channel is being used.
The timing range a very bad connection are :

    a. 07:00 till 10:00 AM in the morning
    b. 06:00 till 11:00 PM in the evening

During those times idle channel / slot for Data is extremely limited.
All data connection might be extremely slowdown or even got disconnected.
Of course that’s the rule Voice should have first place in channel management in Mobile Network System.

So, if you still want to connect & have a bit better speed, please try to connect out of above two time ranges.
05:00 - 07:00 is one of good time to online.
Or you’ll be kicked out [i.e disconnected] or even denied to register by the system :) on no matter even you can get HSDPA on your Modem.
What I’m suspecting is INDOSAT is running out of capacity for Data or over-data-subsribers in other word.

[HandPhone] Samsung SGH C450 Key Issues

Posted by admin on 19th February 2009

    Cool Black Casing.
    Low Price.

But there two things couldn’t stand compared to other low price Mobile Phone on the same class.

    First.
Navigation Button needs a hard pressing.

Specifically to Navigate DOWN or scrolling PhoneBook for e.g.
It always go back to previous menu without hard pressing.
It’s like in the same button as C key function.

    Second,
    CPU processing is too slow.
I meant, pressing button or navigating up/down is much faster than what the screen shows.
Sometimes you have to missed 3-4 raws at one time !

I’ll buy others brand soon !.

[Mobile Internet] Like Telkomsel Flash, INDOSAT launched "ISAT Eco"

Posted by a. Rahman Isnaini r. Sutan on 10th September 2008

Since 1.5 GB Volume Based I’ve subscribed limited for 3 months “low rate” promotion.
And as well justifying 1.5 GB is pretty much againts my requirement.
Choosing INDOSAT Eco should fits what I need (POP3, SSH, Telnet, bit browsing).

    -
ISAT Eco is Unlimited Product with speed of 256 Kbps till 2GB of volume achieved.
Exceeding this defined quota the speed will be adjusted to 64 kbps.
Not bad, 2 GB still pretty much quota I need to spent :).

Now I don’t have to worry for quota over limit & pay for that over usage.
Though I believed, I even couldn’t spent this 2GB in a month :) All I need to pay is Rp. 100.000 or with Tax will be Rp 110.000 (USD 110).

    The Experience…
Even sometimes my bandwidth meter shows that it’s not really 256 kbps strictly allocated but burst a bit higher.

This just my test this morning [Sept, 15] I believe BTS-BSC-MSC in idle capacity :) due to everybody in a meeting or meet they boss for reports.

[Internet Mobile] HSDPA Signal & Data Timed Out

Posted by a. Rahman Isnaini r. Sutan on 10th August 2008

As mentioned before in previous HSDPA connection post.
Good quality or even excellent of signal strength you have, will sometimes not guarantee the best data connection.
It’s just between your HSDPA Modem & the Operator Base Transceiver Station.
The rest of the link reaching out your end data access was occupied by Voice channels.

This condition has been stated by Operator once your starts to use this service.
The Voice channel is by default will be prioritized at BTS & BSC to occupy the link in between, rather than data once both are comming the same time & passing through an almost peak pipe.

Please have two cups of coffee then :) Try to disconnect your network & re-connect again.
Should you see this error [The Connection has Failed [0x800703e3] as shown on belows picture :

Means that your Operator Network [BTS - BTS - BSC] having fully occupied channel, so they cannot tackle & handle of your request to complete it.
Please have a plate of rice then, take a shower :) wait for your lucky data channel to idle..

[Mobile] INDOSAT HSDPA, Smooth Streaming & Issues

Posted by a. Rahman Isnaini r. Sutan on 26th July 2008

Staying at Home in the weekend almost to end of this July.
Checking my Volume Usage Room (INDOSAT 3.5G Broadband).
Only 15% volume filled from the total 1.5 GB monthly subscription.

Before it’s getting reset to “zero” automatically by the system on the first of august
I spent some hundreds MB for watching live streaming Indowebster.

With 3 Bars of HSDPA signal strenght, I can have :
    - Smooth picture with 5 Inch Screen
    - At almost 3 Mbps from this HP520 BTS to MSC to GGSN to Local IndoWebster Web Server.

    Since it’s weekend..
My thought goes to “more idle channels & capacity” in BTS and as well the BTS to BSC Backbone.
BSC to MSC and GGSN as well.
By this condition it gives you more room to be occupied.

Sometimes for some occasions & situations, though I’m getting full bars of 3G or even 2 bars HSDPA,
the connection keeps slow. Even browsing doesn’t seem to work out.
    Most page cannot be displayed.

This usually happened at night of working days.
And what I’ve done to make it good is trying to disconnect and reconnect again & again till pressing F5 key which gives me a prompt respond by transferring the data from the accessed website.
For this condition I could say that BTS to End user Modem (Very good)..
But the capacity at BTS/BSC/MSC might be oversubscribed or override by the voice channels.
Therefor my “good” connection alocated only for several hundreds of kbps only along the pipe to GGSN.

Other issue is, once the DataCard Modem Inserted.. it doesn’t automatically trying to search the network.
It takes 5 minutes to start searching & registering to INDOSAT network.
This also happened with ZTE bundled package default modem from INDOSAT.

Second curiosity is why the signal strenght changes from HSDPA to 3G even GPRS without moving the Laptop even for a micro meter away ?
It might be, I’m in the overlapping cell between the HSDPA supported BTS and GPRS/3G supported BTS :) How can stick only with HSDPA one ? :) No chance… or I should contact the Ericsson Engineer…
